Who is Denny Burk trying to kid?

Do you see how this is going? You don’t even have to mention homosexuality or gay marriage. All you have to say is that you are pro-family, and certain municipalities will exile your business. Welcome to the brave new world of tolerance.

This is because of the dust-up over Chick-fil-a’s owner suggesting that gay marriage will doom us all and that he openly supporting anti-civil rights measures in regards to gay marriage. Denny seems to suggest that this is because the owner said he was pro-family… but that’s not the case. This is not old news, but actually recent – and it goes beyond being pro-family, a cute little word that is politickspeak for pro-straight family, just as it once was for anti-mixed raced families.

But, there is more… anyone else find it ironic that Denny Burk, a professor at at SBC college is complaining about boycotts? Does anyone remember when the SBC voted to boycott Disney? Or when others in the Christian Right boycott this or that group?

  1. It seems to me that it would be prudent to read the full context of the original subject statement rather than spend our time discussing the pros and cons expressed by prejudiced posters of all sorts. One of my pet peeves is that people of the right and left tend to only pay attention to what like minded writers have to say without any doubt that they may be slanted. Yesterday I read a post that claimed that Clinton left office with a budget surplus of $5.6 trillion while the most often quoted figure is about $500 billion despite the fact that the national debt increased in all of the last 7 years of his presidency, the most important fiscal fact.
