Who influenced Jesus about His mission on Earth?

Image via Wikipedia

A couple of weeks ago I referred to a belief that it was His mother Mary who influenced the Earthly mission of Jesus. Who did influence Jesus? Jesus Himself has the answer.

Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does”. John 5:19 (NIV)

“For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” John 12:49-50 (NIV)

Jesus spoke to God the Father everyday. Everything Jesus did and said came from God the Father. Because Jesus is God. The Trinity were working perfectly together. As they are One. Beautiful!

    1. Yes, I’m sure that the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Virgin Saint Joseph Her most Chaste Spouse had influence over Jesus as His parents.

As for His mission, Jesus says that everything He did was from God the Father.

      1. You know, Gez, Catholicism is not the enemy neither are all their doctrines.

No one, not me anyway, as said anything like what you think you heard me say.

I said influence. Is it really wrong to say that Mary influenced her son? I mean, mothers do that, and if Christ was fully human, then he would have had to learn from his mother something. Further, we know from pre-Catholic tradition that Mary played a role in the early Church, remaining with John until her final days. She was something special to the Church and to Christ, just as Scripture says.
