The Harbinger became a New York Times best-seller the first week of its release in early 2012 and has been circulated on Capitol Hill. The documentary version, called The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment, continues to be a best-selling faith film in America.

I’m not sure I’ve written about this before or not, but honestly, this is stupid.

Yet, we know books like this — those by John Hagee and others — are circulating on Capitol Hill rather than empirical evidences, science, and other material related to the running of this country.

And this is why we are in a downward spiral — because our governing leaders are filled with the disease of sheer stupidity.

  1. Cahn has much in common with a predictable character introduced into the pages of a historical novel at a time when the political leadership of a declining empire has run out of ideas.
    .
Cahn’s spin of history has taken root in religion mad America because there is a rather naive belief that, if the the United States can just get back to the way things used to be, the hands on the clock of the ages can be magically reset. Among the more recent examples was the prediction that difficult economic times would cause churches to fill to overflowing. Rather obviously, that didn’t happen during the Great Recession or in its lingering aftermath.
    .
More importantly, the collective naivete surrounding the good old days extends to other areas of American life as well. Repeal of Obamacare and voter ID laws targeting minorities are two more examples. So are attempts to resurrect the Comstock Act and allied suppression of birth control. In fact, if one considers the overall Republican agenda carefully, it reveals a pathological intent on reestablishing the Gilded Age!
    .
The real tragedy in a concerted effort to return to yesteryear is that instead of turning back the hands of time to the 1890s, Republicans are more likely to get back as far as the 1930s. Only, instead of being in the Washington, their misguided political time machine will drop America into Nuremberg!
    .
Much to its eventual peril, while the American public has be overloaded with dire warnings pertaining to the evils of socialism, almost by design, the populace remains woefully ignorant about the dangers lurking behind the super-patriotic flag-waving God-fearing facade.
