Dr. Chris Brady has a post up about the uses of Hebrew in Genesis 1. It caught my eye because in my OT Intro class, we are currently discussing Genesis 1 and 2 and I have used ]] and ]] in my discussions, both of whom focus on how something is being said in the original. Anyway, in reading his post, he refers to an older post by Dr. Chris Heard on the Hebrew in Genesis 1 who then included a link to a 2003 lecture by John Walton.
For my part, I find great theological insights in Genesis 1 mainly do to leaving behind the notion that it is only talking about Creation.
Anyway, check out those posts if you get a chance.
And, if you get a chance, answer this.
most important for me is understanding the nature of how things are THEOLOGICALLY – so that the rest of Scripture is in its correct context.
I just read this… fascinating stuff… mind you, i find all of Gen 1-11 fascinating..
