Sunday Thoughts – 8/8

Sophia had a low-grade fever this morning, so we only stayed for Sunday School. I know… I’ve had two other children go through all of this, but it still makes me worry. Yes, I know – leave everything in God’s hands, but when it comes to infants and children, well, my children  – I can give advice easier than follow it – I would rather be at home watching the baby’s every move and checking her temperature every few minutes.

Class was great, of course and we hated to miss service.

By the way, for those of you interested, Mark Stevens is giving away a book from N.T. Wright. Wright won the showdown that Mark had been running for several weeks. In my opinion, Wright wins because of his pastoral nature. While Fee and BW3 are worthy competitors, Wright comes across, especially in speaking, of a pastor first. Also, don’t forget Craig’s giveaway of the New Oxford Annotated Bible (4th edition) as well as Jason and the gang’s giveaway of a KJV Minister’s Bible. By the way, for those of you who are taking Theological French (or German for that matter), Michael Halcomb has returned to doing his series on such things.

I’ll return to giveaways later. I have an idea for a $50 gift card either at Amazon, maybe even Westminster or Eisenbrauns. Still thinking, but maybe a vote for the best blog post and whomever wins that blogger will get the card. Not sure yet. Let me know what you think.

I have a pretty busy week at the day job with all day meetings Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I would like to post a few reviews, but we’ll see. Plus, waiting on something before I announce some big news.

Well, I hope and pray that each of you have a great week.

  1. Hi Joel

I hope little Sophia is feeling better and the low-grade fever gone.

No question about – i would have left church early too – trusting God all the way home.Trusting Him as i watched and checked her temperature every so often. And if the need arose – trusting Him while phoning the pediatrician.

Faith freely given and wisdom for those who ask – steadfast in their trust in Him…
