Some Ponderings from Easter

I believe in the Freedom of Religion. I believe in respect of another, for another, the more so in a democracy. I don’t like it when Christians go on the rampage and criticize another because they aren’t a Christian. There is a difference in preaching the Gospel and being a jerk.

I noticed that on Easter, and a few times on the days leading up to it, those who most clamor for freedom of/from religion, of conscience became the loudest when poking fun of Christians. How many times did I see ‘Zombie Jesus’ bandied about? Or other derogatory names for believers and the One in whom they believe? I wonder if people realize that while many believers are passive, when constantly barraged with disrespect, especially when it is first given, those passive believers will eventually tire of being passive…

Honestly, if we are really supposed to respect them, then why is it that they don’t care to return the favor?

Because we would not then be able to shine for God as a community bearing the likeness of our Lord.

That’s the whole point and the very attraction of people to God. Our love and respect is unconditional…..

    1. I agree, Stuart, but nevertheless, it tires me watching people make fun of Christ, and these same people proclaim the need for respect. But, thanks for the reminder.
