Pondering God’s “Super Powers”

I’m a huge fan of comic books.  A huge fan.  So my use of superhero lingo in this post is in no way intended as a semantic slight.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, I have a question:

What would you say are the Christian God’s super powers, and why?

Growing up in a Southern Baptist Church, I was taught (by laymen with little or, more often, zero formal religious education) that God was omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent.  Having no formal religious education myself, I’ve always had a sense that this list was vaguely rooted in scriptures such as “before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” and others.

For those of you familiar with the old DC Comics Who’s Who books, what would God’s entry say if he were featured in such a format?

I look forward to reading your thoughts in the comments…

  1. I think, Robert, that if people will look into the statements, they may be able to rightly answer your questions…

Of course, some of those questions have been wrestled with for thousands of years – If God isn't all knowing, can He really be God? Calvinism v Arminianism.

I'm not sure where I fall into that category myself.

Also, I think that one of the things that people see is that God does have 'powers' for lack of a better term. I know growing up, I thought God had something like x-ray vision, was super strong, and could be everywhere at once. (yes, I know). Now that I am older and try to examine things more closely, I might exactly put it that way.
