Fred Rogers (1928–2003) is perhaps one of the most beloved characters from many of our childhoods. For those of you too young to remember, he was the guy with the soft, unassuming voice who brought us education and morality lessons disguised as puppet shows….

No doubt some will disagree about the meaning of 1 Corinthians 6.9-11 and that’s fine, but you really need to identify why you think this means homosexuality and not other things.

Event so, the point still stands. We proof text. Some do it on purpose and others out of ignorance.

      1. It was pretty good. He addresses both of the primary Pauline proof texts that are usually proffered as biblical condemnation of homosexuality. And not in a way that is dismissive or condescending. He makes a particularly good point regarding the translation of malakoi as “effeminate”: namely, that what we should be pondering is the underlying sexism that accompanies such a charge.
