I’d prefer Dick Carrier’s math to Dan’s

A History of Christianity

God didn’t have to give us mathematical proof of His existence, but He did it anyway. God didn’t have to give us proof of Christianity, but He chose to do so. And God didn’t have to give us proof of His love for us, but that is exactly what He did. The proof is irrefutable.

The Mathematical Proof for Christianity Is Irrefutable

He goes on…

One plus one equals two. Old Testament history plus New Testament fulfillment equals irrefutable proof.

Do you hear that sound? That is the sound of every theologian and thinking believer since Matthew banging his or her head against a brick wall shouting “Why God? Why are people like this given spots in pulpits when it is people like this causing more and more atheism? Why God? Do you have a sick sense of humor?”

This is an old line for those who believe the New Testament is supposed to somehow be separate from the Old Testament (so as to provide two witnesses – thanks, Tertullian) and who fail to understand properly the role of “fulfillment” as used by the authors of the New Testament. Further, this is the old apologetic where simplistic idiocy reigns.

I just have no other words…
