A week after House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan claimed his Catholic faith inspired the Republicans’ cost-cutting budget plan, the nation’s Catholic bishops reiterated their demand that the federal budget protect the poor, and said the GOP measure “fails to meet these moral criteria.”

This is just one more example of both political parties attempting to use Christianity for their own ends. When will Christians on both sides of the political aisle wise up?
Allan is right. But, the Catholic Bishops could work harder to pick up the slack. They should be primarily be concerned with the people in their parishes first, society second.
