Catherine of Siena – Shame on You

The sainted woman was mentioned during the Royal Wedding today, and she is one for which even the Protestants should read.

“…Shame, shame on our human pride, our self-complacency, our self-centeredness, when we see how good God has been to us, how many gifts and graces He has given us–not because He has to but because He wants to…” – Excerpt is from the 4/13/11 Meditation in April Magnificat

“Humble yourselves…We cannot pass through the low door with our head held high unless we want to crack it.  And the door we have to pass through is Christ crucified, who humbled Himself down to the level of us witless fools.”

She was a mystic, but I suspect that at least some of you will enjoy reading some of her work
