One of DC Comics oldest heroes is super-coming out.
The original Green Lantern – a DC Comics mainstay for the past 70 years – will be revealed to be a gay man in next week’s issue of “Earth 2.”
Alan Scott – formerly a married father of two who first appeared in 1940 – tips readers off to his sexuality early on in the comic when he gives his boyfriend a welcome home kiss.

No doubt, this will create a great firestorm, but honestly, you didn’t see this coming? The dude wore a cape and a mask in daylight and had a fancy ring.
Well, he does have a weakness for wood…
bam. I missed that.
Is this really DC’s first major gay character?
Marvel got there 20 years ago with Northstar the guy who’s getting married this month. For my own part, I love the touch that Northstar’s boyfriend is a black man, too. I think that that really drives home the point they’re making.
And a non-mutant, come to think of it.
Uh-oh … people are right, they are promoting cross-species marriage!
Of course, Quicksilver married Crystal, and she’s not even a human … Scarlet Witch was married to Vision, who’s a robot.
What was I saying? Oh, yeah … isn’t DC a bit behind the curve, here?
“No doubt, this will create a great firestorm”
Is that a DC pun?
