I made it to the office this morning, about 8:30. No later than 8:40, I get a phone call from my wife, saying that her water broke…
Run, dash, mad dash, breathe…
I knew she was pregnant before the first test, I knew the baby would be a girl, and I know that it would be October the 8th. And I felt that the baby would arrive at 2:36 this afternoon. Well, I got it right, partially. Due to having to wait until the antibiotics dripped in (for 4 hours) my wife couldn’t start pushing to about 3. They did their best to delay until then.
The baby was born easy enough, pinked up, and then went suddenly and sickeningly pale. They called a doctor in because they were worried. They took the baby to NICU to examination, etc… and told me to wait an hour before I come and see what the test results were. Me and a dear lady, our adopted grandmother, walked that way, but found out that Sophia was already headed back to the regular nursery. The doctor assumes that the cord had temporarily twisted, perhaps around her neck, for just a moment during delivery.
Thank God. I don’t want to get into theology, but thank God.
Sophia Camille Watts was born 3:07pm, 8lb 1oz, and 21 inches long. Mother is doing good. Big Sister is happy Big Brother is happy. Daddy is tired.
If I can get my wife’s camera away from her, I’ll post some more tomorrow. Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes

Congrats, Joel! This is the text that always comes to my mind when I hear about the joyous birth of a child. May you partake of the blessings of which it speaks:
Psalm 128
1 Happy is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in his ways.
2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be happy, and it shall go well with you.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Thus shall the man be blessed
who fears the Lord.
5 The Lord bless you from Zion.
May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
6 May you see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel!
Thanks, Jeremy!
