Quote of the Day: Hannity, you are a shrill

You have to watch this entire video here.

Quite frankly, you are the worst excuse for a journalist I’ve ever seen. …What you just displayed was not journalism. It was yellow journalism. It wasn’t anything close to try to tell the American people what’s really going on. I mean it’s just shocking.

…Every journalistic ethic I have ever heard of was just violated by you.

…You are a shill for the Republican party. …You alibi them 100% of the time.

Watch… let’s discuss.

Jesse Lee Peterson – America is Doomed because Women can Vote

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a Fox News contributor, tea party activist and personal friend of Sean Hannity’s said in a sermon recently published to YouTube that America’s greatest mistake was allowing women the right to vote, adding that back in “the good old days, men knew that women are crazy and they knew how to deal with them.”

In the video, published to YouTube in March, Peterson explains that he believes women simply can’t handle “anything,” and that in his experience, “You walk up to them with a issue, they freak out right away. They go nuts. They get mad. They get upset, just like that. They have no patience because it’s not in their nature. They don’t have love. They don’t have love.”…

….“I think that one of the greatest mistakes America made was to allow women the opportunity to vote,” Peterson says. “We should’ve never turned this over to women. And these women are voting in the wrong people. They’re voting in people who are evil who agrees with them who’re gonna take us down this pathway of destruction.” (here)

Start about 8:30 into the video,

What’s ironic is that people, some people, say the same thing about minorities who vote. The exact same thing.

Karl Giberson on Optional Facts for Christians

This kind of critical thinking about sources and expertise is essential in navigating the complexity of our modern scientific world and developing sensible and defensible positions on everything from the age of the earth to the real cost of Medicare.

Unfortunately, America has an uneasy relationship with experts. Many people don’t like the idea of consulting some egghead at a university to get scoop on complex problems, even though that egghead might be the world’s leading expert and hold a position endorsed by the National Academy of Sciences. Every night on Fox News Glenn Beck assaults expertise and education as if they are just different prejudices. He regularly pits his high school diploma against teams of Ivy League doctorates in a most amazing performance as America’s leading anti-intellectual. A few hours later on Fox News, Sean Hannity hosts a “great American panel” in which he asks former beauty queens, football coaches, and country singers to comment on complex political and economic questions.

Karl Giberson, Ph.D: Is Accepting Evolution ‘Optional’ For Christians?.

Karl is a funny guy – who knew?

Buy he is correct, I fear, about Americans. We simply do not like experts or the dreaded ‘i’ word – intellectuals….

Remember that recent completely and totally unbiased ‘report’ by master truth teller Sean Hannity? Yeah…not so unbiased…

Hannity Clip Shows Katie Couric Calling Reagan “An Airhead.” From Hannity’s “Behind the Bias” special:

KATIE COURIC: Good morning. The Gipper was an airhead. [Fox News, Hannity, 4/22/11]

Full Context: Couric Was Citing A Conclusion From A Reagan Biography That Drew A “Tremendous Amount Of Interest And Fire.” From the September 27, 1999, edition of NBC’s Today:

KATIE COURIC, co-host: Good morning. The Gipper was an airhead. That’s one of the conclusions of a new biography of Ronald Reagan that’s drawing a tremendous amount of interest and fire today, Monday, September the 27th, 1999.

Announcer: From NBC News, this is TODAY, with Katie Couric and Matt Lauer, live from Studio 1A in Rockefeller Plaza.

COURIC: And good morning, everyone. Welcome to TODAY on this Monday morning. I’m Katie Couric.

ANN CURRY, co-host: And I’m Ann Curry. Good morning, everybody. Matt’s back tomorrow. Perhaps he’s still celebrating with the American team that won the Ryder Golf Cup tournament yesterday.

COURIC: That’s right. We hope he’s having a great time. We’ll see him tomorrow. But this morning we’re going to begin by looking at this new biography of Ronald Reagan called “Dutch.” The author was actually hand-picked by Ronald and Nancy Reagan, which is why some of his conclusions are so startling. The author, Edmund Morris, will be here for a three-part interview later this week. But in advance of that, we’re going to see why Morris thinks Reagan was an airhead, but still a great president. Do Christians Torture? Sean Hannity thinks it is okay

Hannity asked “Do you disagree with your dad at all about enhanced interrogations?”

“My attitude is that if we capture an enemy combatant in the battlefield — or we can use Osama bin Laden — who may have information about a pending attack. You know what, I don’t have any problem taking his head sticking it underwater and scaring the living daylights out of him and making him think we’re drowning him and I’m a Christian,”

Megan McCain disagreed. “I think it’s what separates us from the terrorists . My father could never lift me up as a child because he can’t move his arm. He can’t ride a bike because he can’t bend his knee because he was tortured. I think he knows better,” she said. You have to give Megan kudos for that.

Well, Sean can say what he wants to about his professed belief system, but Jesus Christ, the One Who decides what a Christian is, would disagree about torture,

“You have heard that it was said, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.

“You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren[9] only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:38-48 NKJV)
