Hawaii being hit with tsunami waves – With Live Stream

You can catch the live stream from Hawaii here and here.

A tsunami warning is in effect for the Hawaiian Islands.

This after an estimated 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck near east coast of Honshu, Japan.

Based on all available data a tsunami may have been generated by this earthquake that could be destructive on coastal areas even far from the epicenter.

If tsunami waves impact Hawaii the estimated earliest arrival of the first tsunami wave is after 3 a.m. Friday.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centers says a tsunami has been generated that could cause damage along coastlines of all islands in the state of Hawaii.

Devastating Earthquake and Tsunami strikes Japan (images, video)

I work up early this morning to pictures of a Tsunami washing over Japan and warnings springing up for Hawaii. A 8.9 earth has struck off of Japan’s eastern coast. Some are reporting warnings for the West Coast of the U.S. as well.

A magnitude 8.9 earthquake slammed Japan’s northeastern coast Friday, unleashing a 13-foot tsunami that swept boats, cars, buildings and tons of debris miles inland. Fires triggered by the quake burned out of control up and down the coast.

At least 29 people were killed and there were reports of several injuries in Tokyo, hundreds of miles away, where buildings shook violently through the main quake and the series of massive aftershocks that followed. (here)

Keep the Japanese people, and indeed, everyone which the Tsunami may reach in your prayers today.

Pray for Chile, Hawaii, Japan and us all – Evac Info

Seems that all those nice quite fault lines in the Western Hemisphere are waking up. Chile suffered an 8.8 one this morning. Japan as well.

Also, a tsunami warning has been issued for Hawaii for about 5 hours from the posting of this.

The first waves were expected to arrive in Hawaii at 11:19 a.m. Saturday (4:19 p.m. EST).

Hawaii Lawmakers Pass Bill to Create 'Islam Day'

According to Comedy Central FoxNews, Ha waii has declared a day for Islam . To be honest, my first thoughts are a bit of a revulsion. Perhaps it’s that separation of Church and State thing. Not sure. But I will give it time to develop.

Hawaii’s state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate “Islam Day” — over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn’t want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

The Senate’s two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.

“I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember,” said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue — same-sex civil unions.

The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House and now goes to Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.

The bill seeks to recognize “the rich religious, scientific, cultural and artistic contributions” that Islam and the Islamic world have made. It does not call for any spending or organized celebration of Islam Day.
