Australian National Rugby League player Hazem El Masri is a Muslim. This Sunday, the Bulldogs last home game before the finals occurs during Ramadan, so El Masri will not consume any water during the entire game.
“I’m dedicated to football and I believe in myself,” El Masri said. “If you’ve got the will and the belief, you can achieve whatever you desire. I’ll push my limits until I can go no further. Ramadan is a month of sacrifice. A month of dedication.”
I should point out that amongst the various scandals that have dogged the NRL in the past couple of years, El Masri has been a shining light. A dedicated father and husband, non-drinker, non-smoker, early to bed
