Star Wars is a Jungian Victory Shout – so cheer when Alderaan is destroyed

Just a little fun…

George Lucas was raised a Methodist so some of us see Star Wars as a morality play based on Wesleyan principles, albeit Californian Wesleyan principles…so….

Anyway… maybe it isn’t.

It’s really a hidden battle between two schools of psychoanalysis.

I mean, you have the Dark Side (Jung) and Alderaan (Adler). The Dark Side is confronted (Jung) by various archetypes (Jung) acting as the heroes. The Force is completely Jungian. Luke has to confront the Shadow via the Anima/Animus.

In other words, Lucas hated Alderian therapy and was a secret Jungian.

All of this is awesomely awesome because I’m not the first, nor will I be the last, to connect Star Wars to Carl Jung — although maybe I’m the first to see it as a fight against Alder.
