1. We are commanded numerous times in Scripture that the one body of Christ should not be divided, and that believers should speak the same doctrine (e.g. 1 Cor. 1:10, 1 Cor. 12: 25-31, John 17:21-23, Rom. 12:4-6a, Eph. 2:19-22). However, many in Christian sects today are more attached to their denomination or political ideology than to the living Christ.

Unity among all regenerated believers is based solely on having the same Heavenly Father. Instead of being comfortably proud in our sectarian or political ivory towers, we should humble ourselves to be content and united as merely Christians of the one true body of our Lord, assuming our disagreements are limited to doctrines not essential to salvation.
