Using this tragedy as fodder to express your disdain for IHOP and attack an entire community is simply dishonest. In Kansas, the BTK killer (Bind Torture Kill) was an elder for many years at Christ Lutheran Church. When the church was faced with the tragic news that one of their own was in fact an infamous serial killer, most had the maturity and sensitivity to recognize the pain suffered by this congregation. What you are doing is shameful and petty and transparently agenda driven. Kick em’ while they’re down Joel. Atta way to be really Christ like Joel.

    1. Yeah, I would hate to call anyone serpents, or turn over tables, or anything…

IHOP is not a Christian organization. It is a disgusting, perverted cult.

  2. Joel,

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “cult mentality and heretical teachings?” Honestly, I am extremely offended that you would make this statement. Myself, wife, family and local body of Christ have been very blessed by the ministry of Mike Bickle and IHOPKC. I have been inspired to pursue my relationship with Jesus at a whole new level and to love God with all my heart, mind, soul and strength. I have committed to bible reading, study, prayer and fasting like never before. My life is completely different compared to 3 years ago. The redemptive work of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit is the reason my life, family and career has been transformed but IHOPKC really helped point me in the right direction.

    1. Completely different doesn’t mean that it is God.

I would suggest you follow the tags at the bottom of the post for more of the calling IHOP a cult writings

You’re absolutely right, that different isn’t necessarily from God. That’s why you measure it by fruit as a result of abiding in Christ. For the sake of a short blog comment, I didn’t think posting my complete testimony was appropriate. Let’s just say, it’s undeniable the work Christ has done in my life. Kind of a Paul on the road to Damascus type deal.

My source and power is Jesus Christ and the Word of God, not a particular ministry. I’m a member of a large evangelical church in metro Detroit. My home ministry and leadership has blessed me as well. My point is that IHOPKC can be counted among those who have impacted my life.

I appreciate that we have a difference of opinion regarding Mike Bickle and IHOPKC but a concern of mine is reconciling your position versus many who endorse Mike Bickle such as Jack Hayford, Bill Bright, Loren Cunningham, John Dawson and Dutch Sheets. Are you implying that you have some special discernment from the Holy Spirit that the founders of Campus Crusade for Christ of YWAM don’t have? That’s an honest question, right?

        1. If they endorse IHOP in any way, they are spiritual suspect if not bankrupt
