Job Vacancy…

Jim has posted news on the resignation of the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams. Jim speaks so negatively (you’d think Williams was a tele-evangelist and the Queen Benny Hinn) that one might almost guess Jim is a closet anglican ashamed about his true persuasion! 😉 (Jim this is a joke so don’t get all steamed up!)

On a more serious note, I am not sure why Williams has impressed me as a senior cleric, but he has. Ben Meyers (Faith and Theology), who recently released a book about the Anglican primate, once described him as being misunderstood by most because he is far smarter than just about everyone. I have watched as he has tried to hold together the anglican communion around the world despite being whacked from the left and the right. To hear him speak is to be mesmorised by sheer intellect. Intellect not only earned but gifted to us all by God. he has what one can only describe as a once in a generation mind! If nothing else one has to admire his eyebrows!

I wonder who they will appoint. Tilling pehaps? The Bishop of York? Will Tom come out of retirment? You can follow the story here.

  1. i’m never steamed at you joel. that mark stevens guy, sure. you, never. but admit it, the guy needs to take some grooming lessons. admit it!

  2. I think it’s because of his spirit. He was doing what he thought best, not out of spite, but out of a theologian’s heart for his Church.

  3. On the contrary, the eyebrows are disgusting. The theology geeks adored him for his “intellect” but many others found him deeply frustrating.
