Football and 1st Thessalonians 5:18

I guess some football player used 1st Thessalonians 5:18 today:

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

How do I know? Because every time he uses a bible verse, it stays on Google Trends for about 12 hours, every Saturday. I reckon I should be thrilled that at some point, a bible verse gets picked up and people flock to read it.

But doesn’t it say something that people have to search for it on Google rather than opening up a bible in their possession?

  1. At this point, I’m just happy anyone is looking it up. The national stage that Tim Tebow(the football player you mentioned) plays on has given him a ministry through eye-black that many pastors won’t have in their entire careers.

    1. Lucas, I can understand that – but I still fail to see what a bible verse in the middle of a football field does.

Granted, if it gets one person interested enough to read more than that one verse, that one chapter, that one book, then praise God anyhow.
