“Apostle Frederick Price steps down, son to take over the family business

Thanks to Crystal at the Slaughter of the Sheep for this:

On Sunday, March 15, history will be made at Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) in Los Angles. After more than 35 years of leading a faith movement and establishing one of the nation’s first Black mega-churches, Apostle Frederick K.C. Price will step aside and install his son as head pastor on his 30th birthday at a special service at 9:30 a.m. at the church located at 7901 S. Vermont Ave. in Los Angeles.
Dr. Creflo Dollar of World Changers Church International will be the keynote speaker for Pastor Frederick K. Price Jr.’s installation ceremony. Dr. Dollar was selected because Pastor Price Jr. realized he was called into ministry during a service led by Dr. Dollar about 13 years ago.

Did the Apostles do something wrong? I mean, none of their children took over after them. Maybe their is something to that.

Notice the guest speaker…

There will also be a special music ministry. The event is open to the public and guests are advised to arrive early due to the expected large turnout or view it online at www.faithdome.org

Now at the seasoned age of 77, Apostle Price will not retire from the ministry, just from the daily pastoral duties over the churches in Los Angeles, New York, and a weekly television and radio broadcast titled “Ever Increasing Faith.” Having published two books last year and making national speaking engagements, the icon of faith doesn’t show signs of slowing down, but of a man who has a sharper focus on his next level of ministry. He also serves as Chairman of CCC’s board of directors.

“The formal succession of my son will take place on his 30th birthday, the same day Jesus began his ministry,” said Apostle Price who will still teach on some Sundays. “This wasn’t planned, it just happened that way. I believe that it’s a sign from God that after six years of training as an assistant pastor, Freddie is ready to sit in the driver’s seat and I will be there to help him along his way.”

During high school, Pastor Price Jr. began a music career with a group called Seven Nine. It consisted of six Christian rappers. The group ministered for years around the country and even produced a CD titled “79.”They continued to rap and produce songs until they transitioned to college. Pastor Price Jr. graduated from Cottonwood’s School of Ministry in June 2002.

Being a Gospel rap artist and appreciation of the culture helped to inspire him to create church services which featured Hip-Hop Christian artists and Krump dancing. Initially, it was titled “Hip-Hop Sunday,” but it was renamed “The Blue Print” since the church was on the forefront of incorporating the Hip-Hop culture into the main service.

As a leader in the Hip-Hop generation, Pastor Price Jr. is passionate about striking a cord with his contemporaries in a real way.

“The Bible says a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children,” said Pastor Price Jr.“My father left me a powerful inheritance to teach the Word and to be a man of integrity. He’s been an awesome father and a great role model.I look forward to continuing his legacy.”

  1. The only difference will be that Jr. raps. If you’ve ever heard him preach/teach he’s exactly like his father because well, he parrots everything that his father has preached/taught for the last 40+ years.

  2. I don’t enjoy listening to their teaching, but I do wish Freddie Jr well. I pray he become humble and remember who is God. Too many men have fallen lately and the pulpit needs to be restored to Holiness and Humbleness.

    1. They read the Bible in the most interesting way young & old get it because they have love in their hearts not expectation, evil thoughts and foreboding check Your love walk Tammy it’s what You bring to it, that You walk away with… it’s too easy to blame the messenger
really I’m just the messenger each time we tell others what to do as we point at them ‘the message’ we give to them, comes back to us three fold like the three fingers pointing back at YOU all respect ~ selah ~

  3. My mother was watching Fred Sr. apostolic coronation (or whatever it is called) this morning. It was a beautiful ceremony, however, what makes a person qualified for an apostle? My mom said a woman gave a prophet word over him and then this happened. Is he qualified by scripture? Since the NAR and this new other thing with the online school has swam to the surface, the mention of apostle leadership is rather unnerving. Help me here Poly.

  4. P.S., apostle simple means “… one who is sent forth as a messenger.” – wikipedia
Whereas a disciple is “student” that learns from a “teacher”. – – wikipedia

  5. Joel, this statement, “You havent read the Apostle Paul, have you!” from you only gives me confidence that what I say is true. First, you believe yourself better read in the scriptures than myself, therefor with a better connection to the Holy Spirit, who reveals God’s Word, and that I agree with how you define the work of Paul of Tarsus. That’s three assumptions you’ve made concerning my spiritual life, without even seeing me face to face, let alone knowing me or my fruits. So quick to judge. These are your fruits, Joel.

  6. I watch fred price jr. Just about each time he is on tv. I enjoy listening to fred jr. I learn something new many times when I tune in to the tv program. I do believe that fred jr is truly called by God all mighty.

  7. Whoa unto You disbelievers let us alone to love the LORD thru this wonderful Man & His Son/ At 36 I stumbled onto this man’s teaching on the way to a wild weekend. It stopped Me dead in my tracks I knew the LORD my whole life but no one… I mean no one got Me to lean in; like Both Men Of FAITH Named Price( so what it was my gym teachers name too) To those who still sit on the fence ‘happy hating’ US the family, the Church, the FAITHDOME.org
You still don’t get it and all Fred Price ever did was teach You how to get it//// Freddy junior does a smash up job at every thing He’s tried because…. WE WALK BY FAITH NOT BY SITE… all respect ~ selah ~

  8. Several years ago I spent 1 year visiting a “word church”. I wasn’t sure why I was there until after I left. The whole time I was there I felt something wasn’t quite right. The doctrine that was being taught, in my opinion was one of a metaphysical philosophy rather that theological. We Christians must seek the Holy Spirit for guidance as to whether what we’re hearing and being taught is sound doctrine.

  9. Judge not lest ye be judged….He was answering the call of God on his life and did as Jesus commanded to all to do…share your testimony and preach the Good news of the gospel. Disciples followed Christ and witnessed of Jesus to unbelievers after the cross.

  10. Listen everyone my name is Bishop Elect James Evans I pastor a church called HOLY GHOST TABERNACLE here in Vallejo ca.
I want all to pay attention and understand what I’m saying
Everybody can have faith in JESUS Christ but faith comes by hearing the word of God.
So what Apostle Dr Fred teaches is Great.
Before you can start to believe in Jesus you must understand who is Jesus because alot of people believe in something but to believe in something you have to be taught why its important to have faith in Jesus
Now I believe that once a person builds their faith up I believe they shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost as well be baptize in the name of Jesus who is GOD according to Matthew 18:19 Acts 2:38 Act 10:40-508

  11. “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…” Jesus Christ

I believe it doesn’t matter the address, name on the building, or who’s pastoring, there is only one Church of Jesus Christ, and if you are born again and living in a relationship with the Father and His Son and His Spirit, it is enough. I don’t look on, I look in, and see what comes out. The fruits of the Prices, and Rev. Dollar, and let’s throw in Joseph Prince, Andrew Wommack, Joyce Meyers, et al, are good and their efforts are worthy of support. To those who criticize, perhaps your time could be better spent. Any church leader (or member, for that matter) who takes the time and energy to criticize, condemn, or belittle another is not looking through the eyes of Jesus, nor are they pursuing Him at the momment. Personally, I am so far from where I want to be in my relationship with Jesus it takes all of my attention. Honestly, I believe the afore mentioned brothers and sisters are where God called them, and the Word comes through them. Amen

Galatians 2:11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong.

  13. There is no way to get past false doctrine and the false Prosperity Gospel

Titus 1:11 They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.

Luke 9:23-24 Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.

Notice Jesus did not say take up the Rolls Royce, or Million dollar bank roll and build your own empire to glory in your own mega Faith Domes! Let me remind people a cross was an instrument of surrender & death!

  14. Did you bother to read Titus 1:5-10?
Notice that Jesus said: John 10:10 … I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

I became aware of Fred Price in the 80’s. He was the first black man of God who did not tie Christianity to poverty. He was also the first man of God, in my experience, to tie ALL his proclamations to the Bible, provide chapter and verse, and insist that you read it for yourself and not take his word for it. On occasion Price does say something that he believes but can not tie to chapter and verse he tells you that it is his opinion, and provides his rationale. As did the Apostle Paul.

I grew up in the church, was baptized, confirmed, etc. yet Price is the first one to get me to read the Bible. Thanks to Price I understand it to be THE guide to living and coping with the difficulties of this life.

There is a way to get past false doctrine and the false Prosperity Gospel read the Bible daily and follow it!
