Now, you may wonder if this is fake – this is not. This is a normal quiz for Young Earthers. Check these out as well.

    • That was my first draft, actually, but didn’t want others to accuse meaningful teaching of doing the se thing.

      • I can see where you wouldn’t want the heat, Joel, but I think the idea that this is indoctrination is defensible.

Young earthers teach their children a cute little song, “I’m no kin to the monkey (cha cha cha). They start to teach against the theory of evolution to children at a very early age. They mischaracterize, belittle, mock, and demonize mainstream scientific teaching in their writings.

Now, I’m willing to be proven wrong, but I have never seen a legitimate science textbook that resorted to any of those tactics toward Creationism. Good science textbooks present facts and the theories that best account for them.

And this, I think, marks the difference between education and indoctrination.

  1. Rejection of evolution is merely part of a broader anti-intellectual agenda to prepare children to reject scientific findings in other areas such as climate change’s correlation with pollution, the HIV/AIDS connection, the link between smoking and lung cancer, etc. The ultimate goal is to produce 19th century-like minions for the 21st century workplace run by latter day Robber Barons operating in an environment of unfettered capitalism. That’s why old texts are elevated to mythical status. The problem is that there is so much information out there that it is going to prove quite difficult to stuff the genie back into the proverbial bottle.

  2. I had some pictures I once had uploaded on my old site of my Christian Geometry work book. You’d probably get a kick out of that.
