Unsettled Christianity

One blog to rule them all, One blog to find them, One blog to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

Or, Maybe a book…

James McGrath has suggested, on his blog, a type of wiki, etc… that deals with mythicists “claims.”

Announcing TalkHistoricity: An Index of Mythicist Claims

Best of luck and all, but I think a book would be better.

Joel L. Watts holds a Masters of Arts from United Theological Seminary with a focus in literary and rhetorical criticism of the New Testament. His interests include exploring the role of mimesis in human civilization, specifically in the study of religion and media, as well as science fiction and the way in which it has allowed mythology to be explored in light of scientific discoveries of the past century. He is the author of Mimetic Criticism of the Gospel of Mark: Introduction and Commentary (Wipf and Stock, 2013) and a co-editor and contributor to From Fear to Faith: Stories of Hitting Spiritual Walls (Energion, 2013).

  1. Just Sayin' says

    Bart Ehrman already wrote one.

  2. The web-based index of the Index of Creationist Claims did get turned into a book, so the two are not mutually exclusive: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0520249267/thechuofjesch-20/

  3. There are numerous websites and blogs that do little more than promote mythicism, and I even think that mythicist perspectives are over-represented on the likes of Wikipedia.

Given that a great deal of mainstream scholarship is tucked away behind paywalls, I think a free, comprehensive website rebutting myther claims would have more reach and impact than another historical Jesus book.
