@NRA calls President Obama an “Uppity Negro”

“Are the president’s kids more important than yours?” a deep-voiced narrator asks. “Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school? Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, but he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security.”

I’ve already covered the logical fallacy of the argument, however, it must the statement by the NRA must be examined for what it is — race baiting, plain and simple.

A few more points — the presidents’ children have always received Secret Service protection because of either real threats or the likelihood of threats. This president is no different, and more than likely, his children have received threats as well.

The NRA is attempting to point out that the black guy in the White(‘s) house is an “elitest.” You know, because he is doing what other presidents have.

This is race baiting. This is to appeal to their membership and like-minded groups…

  1. Ummm, there was nothing racial about that.

  2. Travis Jacobs says

Read the title as NPR and was confused for a moment.

  3. It’s also a flat-out lie: there are no armed guards at Sidwell Friends School . The NRA is doing a spectacularly bad job defending their position. If they really want to change people’s minds (which may not be their goal), they need to stop with the lying and the extremism and start admitting that this is a nuanced, difficult conversation for all of us. Instead, they are tossing gasoline on the fire and making everything worse.
