Twenty-six people were killed, including 18 children, when a gunman opened fire in a Connecticut elementary school Friday morning, a law enforcement official said.
I hope that this is the last update to numbers that we see, but I doubt it.
18 children, at least – dead.
The usual excuse is that if someone was packing, then this wouldn’t have happened. While this is a completely illogical statement, it needs to be explored. Should we arm elementary students with guns? Or just ensure every teacher packs?
Gun Control – the joke that we make about holding the sights steady. An ugly word cast around against those who would seek to bring some measure of control to prevent complete whack jobs of owning guns.
But then again, a whack job could just steal one.
And if we took away guns, then criminals would still have them.
Of course, but no one is talking about taking away guns. I have a gun. But I urge some manner of control for guns.
And those who would be mental patients.
We, in this country, have this neurosis — it’s called individualism. If we see a problem in our neighbor, we tend to turn away believing that it is that person’s problem.
Make no mistake. Someone knew something or expected something. This could have been prevented.
Stronger laws? Guns. Mental health.
Morality.
What the hell is wrong with this country?
