This is growing painful…

…So it didn’t come as much of a surprise when Cameron delivered another rather strange history lesson today while speaking at the Values Voter Summit when he proclaimed that America has been so successful because our Founding Fathers relied “on the very eternal principles that had not been tested and tried from the ground up for three thousand years since the ancient Hebrew republic under Moses”….

No, really… Moses was the first president of the United States of Israel or something like that… And I would almost bet you he received some sort of applause for that line, or at least a head nod of adoration.

Kirk is deceiving a large group of people, or perhaps he is just deceived himself.

Joel L. Watts holds a Masters of Arts from United Theological Seminary with a focus in literary and rhetorical criticism of the New Testament. His interests include exploring the role of mimesis in human civilization, specifically in the study of religion and media, as well as science fiction and the way in which it has allowed mythology to be explored in light of scientific discoveries of the past century. He is the author of Mimetic Criticism of the Gospel of Mark: Introduction and Commentary (Wipf and Stock, 2013) and a co-editor and contributor to From Fear to Faith: Stories of Hitting Spiritual Walls (Energion, 2013).

  1. Then I suppose Mike Seaver supports wealth redistribution through the Jubilee?

  2. Just Sayin' says

Hands off Davy Tee’s favourite actor!

    • David Tee says

Pullease. Speak for yourself and admit that you love him as an actor. One of the things that may be regarded as a pet peeve of mine is how uneducated evangelicals are. It is a disgrace to see people like Cameron spout off on things they knows nothing about.

One might call him the male Palin or Bachmann.

If he is learning from Barton or from some other uninformed group/individual, then he needs prayer and guidance not ridicule. This does not mean that he should listen to false teachers or the secular world but it does mean that he and other congregants need to use a better set of criteria when filtering the information they study and learn how to apply that information correctly.

That, of course, will mean that Watts and others will not be happy as they are ignored for the truth.

  3. Two lists this belongs on:

    1. The Beginnings of the Fall of Western Civilization (Tiedeman)

    2. Reasons we should no longer be a species (Watts…I watched a bit of your appearance on that podcast)

  4. Kirkie said “our Founding Fathers relied on the very eternal principles that had not been tested and tried from the ground up for three thousand years since the ancient Hebrew republic under Moses”…OT is a poor choice for eternal principles. Exterminate the indigenous populations, steal their land and livestock, all under divine destiny. Wait a minute….I guess we did do that!

  5. Ancient. Hebrew. Republic.

    Oh. My. Grandma.

Even the American Patriot’s Bible doesn’t go that far, I think.
