“Where you see areas in which you can take the current political event and turn the discussion to one of ultimate Truth and the Gospel, do so! Rather than view politics as an icky, yucky thing to be avoided, consider that perhaps Christ has given his followers in America in 2012 this political environment so that we can have a better, greater opportunity to proclaim the Gospel.”
Um what? Another Dominionist, Calvinist blogger [see here] confusing proclaiming the Good News with politics. Where do the Gospels say to allow the political atmosphere to determine how we are to present the Gospel? That sounds like conservative cultural Christianity to me, and it is, it’s Dominionism.
And of course, I offer a quick rebuttal:
No, your political facebook posts aren’t converting anyone!
Lols! #CalvinistDominionistFail

Nowhere else to put this, but I justg finished watching “Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.”
It was exactly how I pictured West Virginia to be. Do you know any of those fine specimens (because you know everyone in the state is related some how) Or do you know any one LIKE those folks? Can you avoid it? NY may have it’s issues, but we have nobody like that
actually… I know some relatives of the Whites… and I know a state trooper who arrested the young man.
But, from some experience, you cannot watch it just once. You have to watch it two or three times. And, pay attention to the final two scenes and the deeply powerful statements made therein.
And no, not all of WV is like that. Just Boone County.
I know it’s just Boone county..I was being facetious..I think…you mean I have to sit thru that movie again? The scene where she’s crying? Or where she’s clean with her son?
No. The scene where jesco talks about the family curse and the final scene where Mami talks about immortality
I thought he was very insightful….Mami had a very fatalistic attitude, like the entire family…
It is a different world down there – and not all are like that, but it has a lot to do with mineral-wealth extraction, a rush of immigrants without melting, among other things. An anthropologist would be in heaven
Well, getting my degree in Linguistics, I took a lot of Anthropology classes, and I find it very interesting. There are “twilight zone” towns around the country. Look up a book called “Welcome to Shirley: A atomic town”
