Sex AND profanity in the bible? Are you kidding me?

So, here’s the thing… Scripture was not written by Puritans (or rather, Puritans of later American polemical imagination) or straight-laced fundamentalists. Indeed, our notion of profanity is rather new (I mean, read Luther and Calvin and Tyndale. All men used language which would have them dismissed in many churches today).

If you care about the Text, then you won’t mind reading the nasty parts either.
