This is no apology – but a way to deflect from himself.

For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone’s bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.”

First… the tax payers aren’t paying for the birth control. Second, this is not an apology.

What the (edited) did he think it was to call her a slut?
He most certainly DID mean a personal attack. If this was any kind of an apology, he would have had to acknowledge that reality, and that it was the wrong thing to do.
In no way did he do that. This “apology” means nothing. At all.
This is the longer version of “if I was wrong, I apologize.”
Which has worked for me for twenty-five years….

Sounds like an apology to me. What did you expect? That he does an Irish jig?
He said that he regrets the word choices. Not the comments about her character.
He didn’t say that he was wrong to malign the woman, he says that he shouldn’t have used the word “slut,” essentially.
See the difference?
Of course it sounds like an apology. Creeps like Limbaugh say disgusting things, then say things that SOUND like apologies without being so. This is an example.
He’s sorry that Sleep Number has stopped sponsoring his show, maybe, but he doesn’t care that he maligned another woman.
Not only that, he says that he regrets that everyone took him wrong. That’s not an apology – that’s a “I regret you are stupid” comment.
Keep hating brother…It’ll get you to heaven where there are no conservatives!
No one is going to heaven, no one is hating anyone.
