Unsettled Christianity

One blog to rule them all, One blog to find them, One blog to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

I agree with Pat Robertson

In several things on this video actually…

First, it is not the laws of men which will deter crime and sin and the such, but an active church – a church that is present in society. Second, the stupid laws we have imposed on marijuana users are doing more harm than good. It is a drain on our society, in many ways. I’m not for drug use either.

I agree with Pat on three things.

If hell existed, it would be frozen up right now.

His interests include exploring the role of mimesis in human civilization, specifically in the study of religion and media, as well as science fiction and the way in which it has allowed mythology to be explored in light of scientific discoveries of the past century. 1. actually, you’re wrong, an active church will not deter crime and sin – only God can do that. All the Church can do is point out that this is not how things are supposed to be.
We do not have the power to change the nature of a person. Thus, the laws against drugs are all we have. The problem is, we prosecute people for cannabis, but let them drink alcohol. And that is hypocrisy at its highest. ALL non medicinal drugs (and yes, alcohol is a drug) should be banned. Simple.
“But that will will drive it underground” – yeah, it will. And thereby preventing about 80% of the people who would normally access it, accessing it.
“But, I dont do drugs and I only drink casually…” – well, booze is a drug. And second, you have a responsibility to the community you live in you selfish sod.

So, while you’re out there having a nice drink to celebrate christmas, just remember that you are tacitly condoning the use of alcohol, and along with that all the evil that will be committed due to it this christmas.

    Merry Christmas :P

    • But Geoff, I believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, and that God is working through the Church – if we have Him as the center. We are sent out, we carry forth. We preach the Gospel which changes the nature of the person.

  2. (oh, the stuff about alcohol wasnt meant personally, by the way, just generally).
(oh, and hell can not freeze over, its “worm never dies” :P )

Ah yes, but that’s not what you said :P
    You said, and I quote:

First, it is not the laws of men which will deter crime and sin and the such, but an active church

I’m not saying you’re wrong about the Church’s function, just that it is going to “deter crime and sin”.

Oh. pish posh – You know what I mean!!!!!!

Yep, but I’ve decided to be a language grinch :P
