A New (to me) Theoblog – Galadriel’s Mirror

The author of this book has a blog, although admittedly, he hasn’t posted on it for a while.

This blog make no claim to be oracular (see the forthcoming post on “The Internet as Oracle”).  I make no pretense to having mystical powers like Galadriel.  But I do like the idea of a blog providing discussions that challenge and test the hearts and minds of those who click on the site to have a look.  It appears to me that a blog serves (quite insufficiently!) as a “table”–a table over which friends and strangers banter as though with coffee mug in hand over matters both important and whimsical.

I prayerfully hope that “Galadriel’s Mirror” @ abyers.wordpress.com will offer conversations (both bidden and unbidden!) that penetrate the interlocutors and readers and inspire us to stay the course, namely, the Course that is straight, narrow, and most costly.  And most rewarding…. (here)

Galadriel’s Mirror.

Now, with his upcoming book, let’s hope he returns to blogging….

Joel Landon Watts is a Masters of Theological Studies student with a focus in Mimetic Criticism of the Gospel of Mark. His interests include exploring the role of mimesis in human civilization, specifically in the study of religion and media, as well as science fiction and the way in which it has allowed mythology to be explored in light of scientific ideals of the past century. Currently, he is a TA for Old Testament at United Theological Seminary under Dr. Vivian Johnson, Associate Professor of Old Testament. His first book, Rhetorical Strategies of the Evangelist: Mimetic Criticism of the Gospel of Mark, is expected to be published by Wipf and Stock early next year. He is currently co-editing a book on moving from Fear to Faith (Energion, 2013).
