Phyllis Schlafly Endorses Bloody Revolution; John Perry Calls For Armed Coup

Phyllis Schlafly, is an leader among the Christian conservatives, hosting programs on Christian radio, and is the founder of the Eagle Forum. Janet Porter is founder of Faith 2 Action. Both sit as co-chairs for the How To Take Back America group.

At the ‘How To Take Back America Conference’ last weekend, conservative speaker Kitty Werthmann (president of the South Dakota chapter of the Eagle Forum) led a workshop called “How to recognize living under Nazis & Communists.” She told of the immediate parallels between Nazi Germany and the U.S. of today, noting that Hitler, who acted “like an American politician,” was “elected in a 100% Christian nation.” She failed to mention that Hitler had large support among the conservative Christians in Germany, further failing to mention neither the rampant Antisemitism or militarism and skipped completely the dark  and deep depression caused by an unjust settlement at the end of WWI which helped to birth Hitler’s movement; however, Werthmann explained how universal healthcare (which was first mentioned by Teddy Roosevelt at the beginning of the last century), an Equal Rights Amendment (which was killed in the 70′s), and increased taxes (which has happened with nearly every President) were connections to Nazism.

She went on to say,

If we had our guns, we would have fought a bloody battle to the last person. So, keep your guns, and buy more guns, and buy ammunition. [...] Take back America. Don’t let them take the country into Socialism. And I refer again, Hitler’s party was National Socialism. [...] And that’s what we are having here right now, which is bordering on Marxism.

She obviously has no idea what Marxism is, but she went on to note that her speeches on this subject are gaining in popularity.

I say that Schlafly has endorsed a bloody revolution, because Werthmann is her lieutenant. Further, Schlafly has not rebuked Werthmann for this language. Whether active or passive, this is endorsement. Again, I have not been kidding when I note that a few, and more everyday, claiming the banner of Christ are urging detrimental action. I agree with Werthmann, that we do have parallels with pre-Nazi Germany. How do you think Hitler came to power? Christian leaders in Germany supported Hitler because he wanted to return Germany to her ‘Christian heritage.’ Coups were advocated, by Christians. Actions were performed by civilians, many of them Christians for the sake of  ‘taking Germany back.’

I note that this article by John Perry was removed by Newsmax, however, it is telling of the times,

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

Unthinkable? Then think up an alternative, non-violent solution to the Obama problem. Just don’t shrug and say, “We can always worry about that later.”

(You can find a few saves of it here and here and maybe here)

Oh, and these same people have declared that he, contrary to ALL the evidence otherwise, that Obama is a Muslim

As a Christian, and as American, I urge you to pray for our President, and our Country, and to start to speak out against those who would Christianity, either the word or using it as a platform, to urge such things as what you have seen above. While this article might not make me as popular as I would want, the truth is simple: we are in trouble and heading down a dark road.

  1. When does talk stop being talk? Conservative activists are dancing dangerously close to speech that incites unlawful action as defined under Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969). In that case, it was determined that speech, similar to what crazy Phyllis and the NewsHacks guy used, is NOT protected under the 1st Amendment.

What’s that old quote? When fascism comes to America it’ll be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

  2. Godwin’s law. She can now be ignored.

Seriously though, this is a frightening thing. These people have no understanding about the nature of the American government, and that within 4 years, we can remove our President from office if we don’t like him. We can change laws that we disagree with. No matter how bad it gets, things can be changed and made better. Inciting a coup will only reduce your credibility and your numbers. We have no right to complain compared to how Jesus and his people lived under the rule of the Romans, yet he still showed respect to the government. We at least have a democratic system wherein we can fix what we perceive to be problems.

Sorry for the rambling post, I’m barely awake right now.

  3. First of all, the level of historical ignorance required to refer to Nazis as Marxists is beyond comprehension. The other day, I was listening to some guy talk about having been to Auschwitz and seen what the Marxists did there.

Ironically, Soviet troops were the ones who liberated Auschwitz. What Marxists brought to Auschwitz was hope, but maybe that’s beside the point …

Moreover, I can’t help but shake my head. Want to know what it takes to tear the country apart? Political rhetoric over taxes. Maybe you thought that Americans were made of stronger stuff and felt some kind of kinship toward each other, but nope … that’s all it takes.

  4. “As a Christian, and as American, I urge you to pray for our President, and our Country, and to start to speak out against those who would (use) Christianity, either the word or using it as a platform, to urge such things as what you have seen above”

    Amen Joel.

We can’t stand by and allow these people to misrepresent Christ or Christianity with this garbage–and that’s exactly what they are doing in the eyes of the lost. We need to denounce them as not being an example of Christ, Christianity, or the Church in America.

  5. The political as well as the religious freedoms are within the conscience. The battle is always first in the mind (will, intellect then emotions) But the grave problem today is people don’t really want to think, as they just want and have ignorant opinions. “Where there is no prophetic or moral vision, the people cast off restraint (lit. are naked); But happy is the one who keeps the law (right & wrong). (Prov. 29:18)
    Fr. R.
